Keith Richards' autobiography Life is a book that I could not put down once I had picked it up.
It was a really hilarious and insightful look inside one of the greatest rock and rollers.
I bought this book in November, 2011, but it sat around a long time on the bookshelf before I got around to reading it - I always knew in the back of my mind that I'd never put it down once I started.
It certainly didn't disappoint. It was one of the best reads of the year.
I have also just finished Dexter Filkins' The Forever War. He is an excellent foreign correspondent who writes about some of his day-to-day experiences in some very dangerous places. There are some insightful views on Iraq and Afghanistan.
Meanwhile the reported discovery of the "God particle" had me reaching for a book called Collider, to explain what was going on and why it was so important.
It is a really good history of the development of the Large Hadron Collider and explanation of a theory that has shaped our view of the universe.
