Marriage to me is something extremely special.

It's being able to call my lover, husband. It's being able to tell the world that we have made a life-time commitment to each other. It's making the decision daily to choose to love my husband through thick and thin.

It's a word that separates me from the thousands who prefer the "freedom" to come and go when they feel un-fulfilled in their non-marriage relationships.

It's a word that says: "This person is committed, loyal, loving, and trustworthy." It is a picture of what we believe, showing Jesus Christ's love for the church.

This is what marriage means to me. This is why I stand by my desire to be separate. This is why I want it to remain the definition of one man and one woman. I don't want people to have to wonder what exactly my ring stands for.

This is my definition, and while many do not continue to stand by this traditional view, I stand by my marriage as a precious institution and I always will.
