Desire high for a timeless city
If I could only visit one more overseas city before I died, even though there are very many places I've never been, it would be Paris.
I've visited there twice: once on the almost cliched whirlwind bus tour, and for a more leisurely stay for a week last year.
We rented an appartment on the Ile St Louis, and used this as our base to stroll or metro our way around only a few of its very many iconic locations.
Its atmosphere is so pervasive and intoxicating that just chilling out in our borrowed home, or sunbathing in the Jardin des Tuileries, or picnicking on the banks of the Seine made for a fantastic time.
Yet, it's never enough, and I would be sad if I never revisited the Louvre, strolled down the Champs-Elysees, or watched the sun setting behind La Tour Eiffel.
