My daughter, Larissa, and her cousin, Jason, are three months apart in age.

They have always been best friends and love each other to bits. Last year they did the Weetbix triathlon together.

Larissa has had type 1 diabetes since she was four and it is great that she tries these things.

Jason decided to stay with her all the way, even though he is a lot faster (see gallery left for more images).

They swam together, biked together, checked her blood sugar before the run and then Jason held Larissa's hand all the way to the finish.

I know they will always be there for each other no matter what.
