Black Caps don't deserve "celebration" for being second best Top 5 reader comments today: 'I'm an oval, which is not hot!' Sledging isn't why Black Caps lost Cricket World Cup The Cricket World Cup is over: long live the Cricket World Cup 'Sport should not give a child an excuse to avoid accountability' Recipe: Carrot cupcakes with maple cream cheese frosting Bad behaviour stains Australia's final triumph Top office dog: Louis the French Bulldog 'A different type of lonely' raising child who's 'a different type of perfect' Black Caps 'gave us something to believe in'

The final of Offspring was on Sunday night on TV1 and it failed to disappoint. We were kept guessing right up to the end - Was Nina pregnant or not? Would she get back with Patrick or not? Would Billie and Mick separate over Rhianna? Would Zara and Jimmy's baby survive?

It all ended with Nina's fancy dress 35th birthday party, complete with all the characters dressed up flamboyantly, dancing to disco tunes, while Nina and Patrick ran off to get a scan to check her pregnancy.

Series 2 ended with Nina having to choose between Patrick and Chris and over in Australia fans were setting up Facebook pages to encourage her to choose Patrick. (Team Patrick etc)

If the writers of Offspring had decided to write Dr Patrick Reid out of the story, it would have been risky, so they decided to have a happy ending instead.
