I adopted Yuki from the Dunedin SPCA. He was a long-haired, ginger mature cat.

He ran away, much to my chagrin, and I asked the SPCA to give me a ring if he came back. One day, seven months later they did. It turned out Yuki had walked back to his first owner at Doctor's Point about 25 km away. This had taken him seven months. The old owner brought him back to the SPCA.

I took him home and two days later he ran away again.

The next day I saw him in a tree and I said "It's up to you Yuki, you can stay in a loving home with me or you can go back to someone who doesn't want you."

Yuki looked at me long and hard, came inside and settled down beside me on the couch for many happy years.
