No good option for a new NZ national anthem A week in my reality as a solo mum Pet of the day: Gunnar the husky Weather photo of the week: July 31, 2015 Top five reader comments for Thursday Have you ever been a lab rat? I have a problem with binge drinking and while I take full responsibility for the fact that I over indulge, it is far too easy in New Zealand to drink all through the night.

There have been times when I have been walking to work in the morning and have seen people staggering out of bars or pubs totally wasted.

New Zealand needs to wise up and put a sensible time limit on drinking establishments. In the UK it is pretty much guaranteed that if you are in a bar or pub it will close about 1am and a club at 3am. Yet in New Zealand we have clubs open until 5am and later, which doesn't help anyone

In New Zealand people pre-drink -often to save money - then go out late and stay out late.

The earlier places close, the earlier people will head in to town and the earlier they will go home.
