I can't see why you would not run light rail from Rolleston and Rangiora in to Christchurch city considering the lines are already there.

There is a large catchment area for people to use a train service from these communities.

A line could also be built to the eastern suburbs creating a tri-star line in to town.

It would easily pay for itself. I pay over a hundred dollars a week to travel from the city to Rolleston each day in a car and many others do the same.

I have heard that overseas there a bus-trains where buses run on rail tracks and then can covert to wheels to travel around streets. These would be great.
