This year has treated us to some magnificent sporting moments and some that will be treasured for a very long time.

The Olympics provided us with plenty of feel-good moments and it was terrific to see Mahe Drysdale prevail after the disappointment of Beijing in 2008.

It was also great to see Lisa Carrington, and Eric Murray and Hamish Bond show their class to win their events.

Other highlights included the Breakers delivering their second successive title and the Chiefs, who were superb in scaling the biggest mountain of all to reach their Holy Grail.

Lydia Ko, Lauren Boyle and the Olympic sailors also gave us awesome performances.

But my favourite sporting moment of the year would have to be the gold medal won by Joseph Sullivan and Nathan Cohen - the sheer excitement and emotion of their victory had it all. We all knew they would come home strong but they turned it up to another level and rowed over the top of their opposition as if they were standing still.

These guys were the best sporting moment of the year because they had me out of my seat, yelling and screaming at the television.

These guys brought out the raw emotion in the average sports watcher and their determination made us all proud to be Kiwi!
