Tasty Christmas treats: Florentines
1/2 cup (70g) currants
1 1/2 cups (210g) slivered almonds
1/2 cup (120g) red glace cherries - halved
1/2 cup (120g) green glace cherries - halved
4 cups (120g) cornflakes
1 tin condensed milk
180g dark chocolate
Combine all ingredients except chocolate and mix well. Line flat oven trays with baking paper and place desertspoons of mixture on trays.
Bake in a moderate oven for 15-20 minutes or until slightly brown.
Once the florentines have cooled, melt chocolate and ice the flat side.
Makes about 45.
