I returned to my vehicle in Wellington the day after a night out drinking to see a warden about to issue me a ticket.

When I parked my car I was unaware it was in a 30-minute zone and I was four hours over when I came to collect it.

The warden was a good guy and said if I sang him a song he would let me off. I did and he was true to his word.

However, a month later I got a $400 fine for no registration or warrant of fitness while my car was parked outside my house (I had no job and no money at the time to get it fixed up).

I wrote a letter explaining my circumstances and understanding of the situation (being a traveller from overseas I thought operating a vehicle meant driving it on the road, not leaving it to collect dust and cobwebs outside your home while you raise the cash to get it repaired), but was refused.

I currently have one more month to pay the fine and no idea how I'll do so.
