The best place to live in New Zealand? Here I must respond to my city-hugging ways and say Auckland.

Growing up here, I have found the City of Sails to be a haven, not only for those who love a night out on the town, but for mothers and children too.

After moving to one of the bigger suburbs, Manukau, it came to me as a complete shock when I was greeted with happy faces and new found BFFs, an unfamiliar experience after my time in a small rural town.

My Dad, who may be described as the outdoorsy type, seemed pretty happy to find that our neighbourhood had the perfect blend of city, sand and country.

Everything was always within range, whether it was school, the shopping centre or a friend's house.

Even his job, located in central Auckland was relatively easy to get to, just a short ferry ride away. I have been here for over half my life now, and it hasn't taken me long to realise, that the City of Sails, is truly the best place to live in New Zealand.
