Best place to live in NZ? Dunedin
Dunedin is the best of all possible worlds. It's big enough to have all the necessities of a city, yet small enough that everyone is friendly.
There's none of the faceless anonymity of the metropolis where no-one knows their neighbours, but it's too big for much of the small town gossip which blights rural communities.
The weather is good, despite what the television news temperatures try to tell you. Summers are warm, with none of the cloying stickiness of Auckland; winters are cold, but without the icy bite of Christchurch.
There's vibrant culture, with a vital arts and music scene, much of it thanks to the big student population.
We have fine beaches within a quarter of an hour's drive from the centre of the city and unlike Auckland, the centre of the city is an easy drive from anywhere.
And if you want spectacular scenery with accompanying extreme sport, or wine, or just open air, Central Otago is only a few hours away!
