Sponsor a child plan pathway to ruin
I'm utterly astounded that the idea of sponsoring children in New Zealand is being promoted. I just don't get it. Why aren't people in positions of responsibility jumping up and down to either dismiss this idea or take steps so it isn't an situation we need to face?
I thought we lived in a country where the social services were supposed to catch those who are in need - the unemployed, the sick, the poor. Sure social services weren't meant to make people rich, but they are meant to provide the basic needs to live in New Zealand.
Has the government reneged on its responsibilities?
Have people on social welfare reneged on their responsibilities?
If the government can't or won't help those in need in New Zealand we need a government that can do the job.
If people can't manage the social welfare they are entitled to, they need people to manage their money for them. Otherwise how are things going to improve for them?
Isn't the idea of sponsoring a child in New Zealand accepting the fact that we have become a Third World country? Isn't it creating an even bigger gap between the haves and have nots?
Isn't this the pathway to ruin or have we actually arrived?
We need a solution, but can't we do better than this?
