My grandson Steven was diagnosed with hydrocephalus when he was still in the womb. The condition means fluid on the brain does not drain as it should and in most cases the child will need a shunt. We've been really lucky and while Steven has had two surgeries, he didn't need a shunt.

Steven's personality is just amazing. He's full of smiles and the whole time we were at Starship Hospital he was a real trouper. He even managed to wrap the nurses around his little finger.

Steven is now four months old and so far doing well.

His parents are both young and this was a very scary experience for them, but it has made them so much stronger as a couple and as parents.
