On a date back in the early part of the 2000s in Hamilton, the lady I was meeting turned up with her seven-year-old daughter.

We sat down for a drink and the daughter asked me a raft of questions. The mother said nothing, even when I prompted her.

After 30 minutes of this, and with me trying to get answers to my own questions the little girl said to her mother: "No, he is not suitable."

They then got up and left.
