The theme for Māori Language Week 2017 is kia ora te reo Māori. We want to hear your stories of what the language means to you.

Have you learned te reo? Why did you choose to study it? What benefits has it brought you and how do others respond when you use it?

Maybe you've had the language passed on to you through whānau or you're trying to pass it on to your children. What does it mean to you? Why do you think it is important for New Zealanders to correctly pronounce te reo?

Hit the big button to contribute. We welcome submissions of 250-800 words. App users: You can email your submission to stuffnation@stuff.co.nz.
