Your tributes to Tom Petty
Legendary rocker Tom Petty has died after suffering a cardiac arrest at his California home.
He was 66.
Petty first rose to fame with the group Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, whose 1978 single 'Breakdown' became a top 40 hit. In 1988, he joined George Harrison's supergroup The Traveling Wilburys. He went solo in 1989, releasing perhaps his most famous song, 'Free Fallin'.
Throughout his career, Petty was nominated for 18 Grammy Awards and won three. In 2002 he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Petty and his band were known for their touring finesse and visited New Zealand a couple of times in the 1980s, including gigs with Bob Dylan in Wellington and Auckland.
This is your opportunity to pay tribute to the role - big or small - Petty played in your life.
We want to hear stories of how the rocker or his music inspired you. Were you lucky enough to meet the man himself? Perhaps there's a song you associate with a particularly special memory.
