After 20 years in the shooters' circle, Irene van Dyk is finally hanging up her netball bib. 

Van Dyk played 72 tests for her native South Africa before coming to New Zealand and donning the Silver Ferns uniform in 2000. She played 145 tests for New Zealand.

Australian Diamonds coach Lisa Alexander said van Dyk would be remembered as "one of the greatest players ever".

Van Dyk's Central Pulse team mate Katrina Grant said there hadn't ever been anyone "so influential in netball worldwide".
