At this time of year we all start thinking about our personal New Year's resolutions, but what about resolutions for New Zealand as a nation?

We might not be able to collectively join a gym or find a partner, but there have been plenty of issues debated in 2016 that we could hope to address in 2017.

The economy, the housing crisis, climate change, immigration, mental health, earthquake response, behaviour of sports stars, the road toll - there are lots of things we could hope to improve next year.

But what is important and why?

What do you think New Zealand's New Year's resolutions should be?

As always, we look for submissions of more than 300 words. Tell us by hitting the big green 'contribute' button and send us your thoughts.
