Last year saw a record low road toll in New Zealand - the lowest since 1950.

However, that record low still saw 254 people die on our roads, and the families of those 254 people left to grieve.

To help share the real impact of New Zealand's road toll, we want to hear from those who have been affected by or involved in a fatal or serious crash.

How did it impact your life? And what are your view on road safety in New Zealand?

Police say safer cars, better road design and tougher policing all contributed low road toll for 2013. Are we doing enough to keep the toll down?

Share your story by clicking the big green 'contribute' button. Please include information on where and when the crash happened, and any photos of you and your loved ones.

Our ''Blackspots'' interactive map shows that there have been nearly 6000 serious injury or fatal crashes on New Zealand roads in the past three years.

We'll be updating "Blackspots" regularly.
