Mike Hesson has had a tumultous 18 months as coach of the Black Caps.

From the lows of the captaincy change debacle - for which he was heavily criticised - to the highs of the recent ODI series win over world champions India, it has been a rocky road for the man from Otago.

The form of the team in home summer, the emergence of several promising young players and improved performances from experienced players seem to indicate the team is finally starting to head in the right direction.

Has Hesson proven the critics wrong? 

How much credit can he take for the performances of the team in recent months?

Has he been making the right choices or is there still work to be done?

And, is he the right man to lead New Zealand to the World Cup a year from now?
