Does anyone remember that Speight's ad, where the rugged man working in the back country has a picture of his girlfriend, and she's not only gorgeous, but her father has a box at Eden Park?

So how do you find the perfect woman? Does such a thing exist?

Dating websites are booming, even discreet sites for those who are married, and apps like Tinder have made casual encounters a regular thing. But how many people find the perfect partner through these means?

I'm sure there's some success, but I suspect true happiness is probably rare. I think there's probably a better way to find the perfect woman.

You begin by not looking.

You begin by focusing on being the best person you can be. Focus on doing what you do, and doing it well. Whether that be your job, your sport, your charity or your hobby.

Try living your life by the Golden Rule - love your neighbour as yourself.

People are attracted to such people, and one day you will wake up and find someone beside you, joining you in your interests and passions.

Then you will know they are the one for you.

The harder you try to find "the one", the more unappealing you appear. Desperation never looks nice.

Of course, if your preference is quantity of relationships instead of finding "the one", then forget everything I've said.

For those wondering about lust, here are some things that might broaden your perspective on sex.

The amount of time people actually spend having sex over the course of their lives is relatively low, yet many of us act as if sex is the most important thing.

Teenagers grow up thinking sex is as good as life gets. And society does little to dissuade them from this idea. From movies, music, adverts to car sales - it's all about sex.

So whatever you do, choose carefully and don't rush, because there's plenty of time to find the perfect woman.
