Summer love:Boxing Day heaven
Competition: Share your summer love story
It was Boxing Day in 2000. I had not long been officially separated from my husband.
My son was out and my daughter, aged 11, was bored.
I had been talking on Paltak in a 'Parents without partners' room and could not for the life of me get the microphone or speakers working. Some guy by the name of Kiwi Cowman was going to a barbecue out west and he offered to hook things up for me.
Giving a complete stranger my address was probably a bit dumb but he arrived and seemed normal enough, and he fixed my computer.
My daughter was whining about being bored so he invited us to a Paltalk party.
He went online on MSN and started chatting to the hostess and what do you know, I knew her!
A few light beers and some food later, Gem and I were in a car headed to Glen Eden.
We met this mad bunch and were having a good time and then this man turned up. This big, tall, good-looking man, who was a older than me. I slapped my face. I am not, I repeat I am not, looking for a relationship.
Thirteen years this Boxing Day, we've been married for 10. The best thing that ever happened to me and to my family, my Brucie Bear.
One of a kind, a true gentle teddy, my soul mate, my very best friend. Never a cross word, we absolutely adore each other and are almost joined at the hip.
Boxing Days are a Sky City pamper overnight for us as celebration of the best day of our lives.
True love is so hard to find. Once you've got it, never let it go.
