For my son's first birthday I knew he would love a toolbox cake. He was a huge fan of his play toolbox and tools at the time. He was constantly hammering anything he could and using the spanner to fix any bolt he could find.

I came across a recipe for a toolbox cake and figured I'd give it a shot.

I made a chocolate cake using the Annabel Langbein recipe which was huge and perfect for the job.

I then made vanilla cookies and cut them out with tool cutters and iced them individually, which was a lot of fun.

The cake tasted amazing and everyone enjoyed the cookies.

Jack had a great day and it all worked out perfectly.
