We're celebrating random acts of kindness in our communities by giving our readers the opportunity to say thanks to a stranger who helped them out.

My wife's purse was returned by a stranger in Paraparaumu on the Kapiti Coast.

She had put her purse on the roof of the car as she loaded in her shopping and the kids, as she often did. On this occasion she forgot to retrieve before getting in and driving off.

She was really worried about it as there were a lot of cards in it and some cash also. It can be a big hassle cancelling cards and then having to wait for replacements.

We received a phone call from the video library store saying that her purse was at an address we didn't recognise, not far from the shops where the car had been parked.

My very grateful wife sent me off to collect it with instructions to grab a crate of beer as a way of saying thanks, which I did without hesitation!
