Random acts of kindness
We are celebrating random acts of kindness by giving our readers the opportunity to thank a stranger who helped them out.
Paulette Driver found a kind and honest stranger on the Kapiti Coast.
I left my wallet on the roof of my car in Waikanae and only realised it was missing at my next stop.
I retraced my steps, not very confident of locating the wallet, and was walking along the footpath by the highway, obviously looking concerned.
A woman called out. She was standing by the pedestrian lights on State Highway 1 with my wallet in her hand.
The wallet was returned, contents intact, with much gratitude from me.
Little did this fabulous lady know that even the meagre amount I had in the wallet was much needed, and nor would she have been aware it was a difficult time for me, with the looming prospect of losing my house to a mortgagee sale on top of it all.
Her act of kindness and honesty went further than just returning a wallet - she made my day a significantly better one because her actions took my mind off my worries.
I wished I had been able to give her a reward, but I could tell her only that good things always happened to good
I hope great things have come her way.
