Nature's the source of much beauty, enough to bless the early risers. Our reader photo of the week is by Kat McBeath, who braved the cold to document the beautiful dawn of Matariki.

Is it any wonder, with skies like this, that I have been up at 5am three days in a row now just to photograph the stars?

This photo was taken at the Mt Victoria summit at 6am on June 29. There was just enough cloud to make for a picturesque sunrise to accompany Venus and Matariki.

The clear weather won't last forever though, and with the coming rain it'll be sleep-ins for me.
