Weather photos of the week: Changing skies in Christchurch
Dramatic clouds frame the first light of the day in Christchurch.
Weather photo of the week
I took these photos in March during evening and morning light in Wigram Skies, Christchurch.
The subdivision is all new, so it's still flat and has no established trees which makes for a great view of the sky any time.
The changing season from summer to autumn often provides us with interesting skies in Christchurch, and this year was no exception.
I took the sunset shot from my front yard around 7.30pm during a norwest evening.
I noticed the light in the house was surreal, so I took a moment to go outside and was rewarded with an amazing orange sky.
The morning light shot was also spontaneous. I was driving to work around 8am, and I actually felt compelled to stop the car and get out to take the shot.
The way the rays were beaming down from the heavens was just beautiful - the photo really doesn't do the moment justice.
I love to photograph the sky as it is everchanging, and we are lucky in Christchurch to have a variety of landscapes to pair it with, which makes for great images.
Have you taken some great weather shots recently? We'd love to see them.
