Christmas not about 'stuff'
What does Christmas mean to you?
We asked our readers to tell us what Christmas means to them. Kate Sarten says it's more than just 'stuff'.
For me Christmas is a time to spend with family I haven't seen for a long time.
It is also a time to remind myself that it isn't just a day for people to get presents.
It is an important time in the church year, being the birth of Jesus Christ (hence 'Christ'mas). It is a celebration of life, not just an excuse to get more stuff you don't need.
It is about giving and love.
It is my favourite holiday of the year not because of the presents or food but because of the joy and happiness I see in little children. They don't care about stuff they just enjoy all the excitement in other people.
It makes me a little sad when I see people rushing around trying to find the perfect gift. Aren't you happy to just spend the day with your loved ones? Why do you have to get them anything at all?
I wouldn't care if someone didn't get me something, for me it is enough to just spend time with loved ones and look back on all the great memories of growing up with them.
Family and friends are the most important part in my life and I would like to spend time with them.
I like people, not stuff that I don't need.
