Inspiring teachers: Pam Spero
Who was your most inspiring teacher?
When I was going through grade school in Canada, between the age of 10 and 15 I had attended roughly eight different schools.
In all the moving about and "trying to fit in" there was one teacher that I will never forget and the odd thing is, she never taught me but was my basketball coach.
Pam Spero, now Principal at Applewood Elementary School in St Catherines, Ontario, Canada was the most amazing teacher I had ever had. She was as tough as nails but as caring as Mother Teresa.
Pam was able to relate to every walk of life and make everyone feel that they have a place in this world that mattered. To me and two of my team mates Pam became a go-to for a friend in need or an approachable teacher when needing academic support.
A few years back I made a trip back to Canada and was able to set up a visit after not seeing her for 14 years, nothing had changed about her. The friendship we had 14 years ago sparked right back up.
There is a Pam Spero at every single school in the world. She is one person that is making a difference in one life.
