We've asked our readers to tell us which women influenced their lives.

I wanted to be like my cousin, Jean Batten. Not as an aviatrix, but as a woman who knew what she wanted in life and was determined to get it.

I hope that I am like her in ways.

I definitely believe that I am capable of doing anything and I will never allow being a woman stop me from doing as I wish.

In fact, I think many women can learn from Batten's determination not to let gender hold her back.

I only hope that her determination is something my daughter will have in common with her famous relative.

I can honestly say I am proud to say I am related to the late and powerful Jean Batten.
