What is needed here is backing from MPs to allow police or licensed premise holders to demand anyone they think has had enough to drink to take a breath test.

If they blow over 0.125 per cent then they can be asked to leave.

Now, on the other hand, if the police find someone in a licensed premise who blows over 0.200 per cent, the owner can face a $500 fine and the person can be banned from all premises for one to three months.

This may sound like a police state, but we need to change attitudes so people don't want to get smashed on booze and then put someone in hospital, or end up in hospital themselves.
