The book, Primeval: Shadow of the Jaguar is based on the popular TV series about holes in time called anomalies, that animals from earth's distant past and far future travel through.

The book sees the team sent to South America to investigate an anomaly, sightings of a big black panther and a mysterious bird-like creature sighted in some ancient ruins.

First off I want to say the author, Steven Savile, did a spectacular job of capturing the feel of the TV show, the characters' mannerisms, even the description of the anomaly was exactly right, so kudos to him on that.

Secondly, his portrayal and incorporation of a mythical creature in the book was brilliantly done (I will not go in to too much detail but it has something to do with the black panther attacks).

I recommend this book to fans of Primeval, and to people who are considering reading it I would recommend watching at least the first two series of the show first.
