Job interview nightmares

Interview nightmares: Employers too narrowminded Interview nightmares: The nervous gesticulator Job interview nightmares: It's getting personal Job interview nightmares: Which company is this? 'I don't employ married women' Name, experience... weight? Job interview nightmares: I messed this one up... Interview nightmares: 'Um, cos I'm awesome?' The creepiest interview ever Sorry, how old are you?

I was called by a company that wanted to interview me, asking me to come in that day.

Once I was there they went through the whole interview process before saying, "sorry, but we have to ask how old you are".

I was aware that they are not allowed to ask this but felt I had to answer as I might lose out on the role. I am a 29-year-old woman, so it felt obvious that they were wanting to see if I was of an age where I might have children soon.

They then informed me that either way I would hear back within a week as to whether I had the job or not, but I never heard a thing from them.

Luckily that same week I went for an interview at the Palmerston North Hospital and have now been working there for a year and absolutely love it. I also cannot fault the hospital's interviewing skills. There was no discrimination and they got back to me in a timely manner.
