Though their single successes far outweighed their album sales, for me The Hollies were and still are one of my pivotal bands of all time.

The album that always does it for me is the 1964 release Stay with The Hollies. It had the No 2 single of that year, Here I go Again, which will always be incredibly special.

I was a new on-air announcer of the then brand new radio station 1XX in Whakatane and after just two weeks of self-taught "training" I was put on air one Sunday morning at 0500, by myself to do my thing.

With considerable trepidation and jangling of nerves, the first song I decided to play - as it seemed entirely appropriate at the time - was The Hollies' Here I go Again. It was to be the first song of a 30-year span of working in radio and I have never forgotten it.
