DANIEL Craig just lost a whole lot of his sexy kudos, thanks to a disturbing tell-all interview from red carpet make-up artist Benjamin Rousseau.

The Lancome make-up guru revealed all his tips and tricks for making the beautiful people even more gorgeous on their big night to British newspaper The Daily Mail.

Rousseau revealed that before last year's Bafta ceremony, he gave sexy Bond actor Craig a man-tan by mixing moisturiser with bronzing powder.

"The light-reflecting minerals created a natural-looking tan with even skin texture. In fact, when I came round to doing Sir Ben Kingsley, his only request was, `Make me look like Daniel Craig'."

It gets worse. Not only was Craig wearing make-up on his face, he quite likely had a bit of slap on his hands. Yes, his hands. Apparently it's routine for leading ladies to coat their hands in foundation in case they're caught on camera clutching an award. And the men get a going-over too.

Rousseau says: "On the men, I just use a little bit of bronzing powder – foundation will be visible if there is hair on the back of hands. And trimmed tidy nails with some clear nail varnish, not shiny, completes their grooming." In slightly less disturbing news, Rousseau concealed dark circles under Christian Slater's eyes with a little brush-on concealer.

"I also like to create a wet-look effect on the lashes, using a disposable mascara brush and a little clear mascara – men will look like they've just stepped out of the shower."

Man make-up is nothing new. It started to go mainstream a couple of years ago when "guyliner" – eyeliner for guys – hit the shelves.

Aside from the obvious fans, like Marilyn Manson and Pete Wentz, less flamboyant stars have also taken to putting their face on before stepping out.

Tween hunk Zac Efron tends to favour a flawless foundation, with careful blusher and a hint of guyliner to make his dreamy eyes pop. But it prompted actress Jessica Alba to say: "He looks like a child with a lot of make-up."

Some guys do look smoking in make-up, like Twilight star Robert Pattinson who just gets hotter when he's done up vamp-style. But there's something deeply worrying about not being able to tell whether a guy's attractively weathered or just covered in bronzer. Keep this in mind on Oscars night next weekend.
