Sonny thrill for female fans
Female fans think Sonny Bill Williams is too sexy for his shirt.
The All Blacks pin-up got the biggest cheer of the night in Friday's Rugby World Cup opening match against Tonga, at Auckland's Eden Park.
But it wasn't for his trademark one-handed off-loads.
Rather, it was when he stripped off his torn jersey to be helped into a new one by team doctor Deb Robinson.
Wolf-whistles and cheers reverberated around the ground – not to mention behind TV screens throughout New Zealand and beyond.
Within hours, the shirt-swapping – and exposure of the SBW six-pack – was a hot topic on twitter and the subject of much searching on YouTube.
Twitter comments included:
OK #SBW took his shirt off .Game over!! #sweetdreams everyone :)
Just watching #SBW taking his shirt off over and over again on YouTube whilst trying not to drool...
Someone needs to rip #SBW 's shirt in EVERY game ;) #RWC
The shirt-change was even the subject of some good-natured ribbing from teammates.
"I think the girls were pretty rapt about that... obviously the cameras zoomed in on him. But we didn't take much notice," halfback Piri Weepu joked.
Sonny Bill himself was typically modest, confirming he will auction the much sought-after ripped jersey for a good cause.
"I will definitely auction off the jersey. It will be going to a charity for sure," Wiiliams said.
"But at this point in time, I'm not going to think about those sort of things until after the World Cup.
"My focus right now is totally on the tournament and I don't really want to delve into anything else right now."
