A female has been killed after being struck by a car in South Taranaki tonight. 

The crash happened around 5.35pm on a Ohangai Rd, just south east of Normanby.

A spokesman from police central communications said emergency services were still at scene. 

"A female was knocked down just outside of Hawera by a vehicle and she was pronounced dead on the scene," the spokesman said. 

No traffic diversions were in place, he said.
