A Taranaki man has been found guilty of seven charges after a rape trial in the New Plymouth District Court.
Steven John Selby, 39, had denied two counts of rape, two of sexual violation and three of indecently assaulting a 17-year-old intellectually disabled girl at his home on February 4 last year. His trial began on Monday.
The jury retired yesterday morning after closing addresses. They returned to court in the afternoon to view again the hour-long video of the girl being interviewed by officer in charge, Detective Sergeant Drew Bennett.
The jury then returned about 5pm with unanimous guilty verdicts on all counts.
Judge John Macdonald remanded Selby in custody for sentence on August 29 and handed down strike warnings.
