BREAKING NEWS: Two people are dead after a truck and car crashed on State Highway Three near Motunui this afternoon.
Police confirmed two people died in the crash just north of Waitara about 2.45pm.
Taranaki Daily News reporter Kirsty McMurray said the truck appeared to have been carrying a load of pipes which were strewn in nearby farmland and over the road.
SH3 has been blocked and detours are in place at Otaraoa Rd.
Police said the road would be blocked for at least three more hours.
