Three men who took too many paua as well as undersized paua from the Taranaki coastline have been punished.
Jarrod Dean Powell-Skinner, 19, of Hawera, was found with too many paua, with some under the 85mm limit on March 10.
Appearing before Judge Allan Roberts in Hawera District Court yesterday, he pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay $1250.
Joseph Liam Knapp, 24, and Tane Douglas Brooks, 28, both of Hawera, were found on March 19 to have gathered from an area 10km outside their permit, being over the limit, with some undersized.
They pleaded guilty and each received sentences of 175 hours' community service, and their dive gear and sacks were confiscated.
