A car has crashed into a power pole at New Plymouth's northern outlet causing the pole and lines to rest on the side of the Countdown building.
Power is out to the Smart Rd traffic lights and northbound traffic has been reduced to one lane, police say.
An ambulance is at the scene following earlier reports the driver was trapped. It is believed that the driver, the sole occupant, is injured with moderate injuries. The crash is at Vickers and Devon Rd.
