Cracker Christmas looms
Sunny day with a high of 24 degrees is predictedBLANTON SMITH
Christmas Day is set to be a cracker according to the MetService long range forecast.
A dry, sunny day with northwesterly winds and a high of 24 degrees is predicted for Taranaki on December 25.
Identical weather is expected on Christmas Eve, but rain is then predicted to settle in on Boxing Day.
Taranaki has been spoilt for weather on Christmas Day for the past three years.
Almost identical weather maps have been printed in the Taranaki Daily News on Christmas Eve in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
Those maps showed a high of 20 degrees and low of 13 degrees, with fine weather and light winds on Christmas day 2009 and 2011.
The only difference was in the 2010 map which predicted fine periods and westerly winds but the same temperatures.
With an even warmer Christmas predicted this year a dip at the beach might be in order and according to MetService it will be a refreshing, not warm, swim with sea temperatures about 18 degrees around the region.
