A 65-year-old woman will appear in court tomorrow charged with assault after her car was clamped in New Plymouth's Richmond Centre.
Constable Andrew Stilton said police were called to the altercation by clamper Daniel Clout about 1.30pm today.
Mr Stilton said Mr Clout alleged the woman spat in his face.
Both wheels on the driver's side of the woman's car, which was parked in a 40-minute zone, had clamps on them.
