A 34-year-old man crashed his motorbike and suffered serious spinal injuries while trying to take a bend near Tongaporutu yesterday.
He was treated by paramedics at the scene then transferred to Taranaki Base Hospital by the Taranaki rescue helicopter.
A second minor crash occurred in the tail of traffic caused by the first crash where a horse truck collided with a small sports car.
No-one was injured in the second incident.
