Four men appeared in court yesterday facing serious assault charges after a Boxing Day party in New Plymouth got out of hand.
A 43-year-old man suffered bruising and cuts to his face and other parts of his body after he was allegedly attacked by the men.
Police were called to the Lemon St house about 8.20pm, Senior Sergeant Allan Whaley said.
Two females were abused and beer bottles were smashed before a neighbour went to their assistance.
"He was attacked by two males, without warning, and then two more males joined in," Mr Whaley said.
