Taranaki Community rescue helicopter crewman Jayden Strickland said the first incident was in Tahora, where a man leading a horse was kicked in the shoulder.
At Mangamahu, near Whanganui, a rider was pinned between the animal and a tree. Their conditions last night were not known.
