OPINION: It may be of interest to local people and users of the Egmont National Park that the Department of Conservation's Egmont National Park Management Plan expired at the end of 2012. It was for 2002 to 2012.
I believe it is an important time for people to debate ideas and issues regarding changes to the management plan.
The Egmont National Plan belongs to all New Zealanders, not just a couple of organisations and the Department of Conservation.
We should debate and educate, and not be dictated to by them.
And it should be remembered that departments such as DOC are employed by the taxpayer.
