Tukapa's Jayson Potroz has scored eight tries so far this season.

Tukapa first five-eighth Jayson Potroz leads the try scoring and the individual points after the first round of premier club rugby,

Potroz has scored eight tries, three more than New Plymouth Old Boys No 8 Willie McBride. Three players - Brayton Northcott-Hill, Dane Picot van Heuven and Nick Childs - have scored four.

After taking over the goal kicking duties this season from the largely absent Jack Cameron, Potroz has landed 21 conversions and eight penalties for a personal points haul of 106.

He was also the first player to bring up 100 points for the season.

Second on the list is Coastal wing Thys van der Poel who has scored 75 points, while Stratford-Eltham goal kicker Jordan Masters has scored 65.

Defending champions Tukapa top the try scoring after the first seven games after they dotted down 34 times.

Despite winning only three matches, New Plymouth Old Boys have scored 25 while competition leaders Coastal have 24. The rest are: Clifton (18), Stratford-Eltham (16), Southern (16), Spotswood United (15) and Inglewood (10).

The first round also delivered some unusual statistics.

It was, obviously, the first time Stratford-Eltham only lost one match given they are only officially combined this year. But it was also the first time either Stratford or the Eltham clubs have only lost once at premier level since the current format was in place.

The first round also brought a record Old Boys would not like as they became the first premier side from that club to lose four matches in the first round since 1990.

They had lost three times in 1991, 1994, 2011, 2012 and 2013.

The Old Boys side in 1990 featured names like Stu Chapman, Geoff Hall, Ross Lilley, Neil Barnes, Willie Harvey, Shane Hildred, Derek Sampson, Andrew and Gordon Slater and Thomas Trowern.

Things improved in the second round as they went on to make the final when they were beaten 15-6 by Eltham.
